The Fight for Integrated Swimming in Lancaster, from Protests at Rocky Springs to the Construction of the County Pool.
Lancaster’s Civil Rights struggle spanned employment, housing, education, and recreation.
Join us to learn about the lawsuits against three public pools in Lancaster (Rocky Springs, Maple Grove, and Brookside) for violating state civil rights law in the early 1960s. Then learn about the construction of the city and county public pools as integrated pools in the late 1960s.
Presented by Professor Alison Kibler, F&M American Studies.
