Yesterday, the Lancaster Public Library – Lancaster City Branch experienced unexpected and considerable flooding on the building’s first floor. The flood was caused by a backup in a sewer pipe; luckily, there was no damage to the print collections. However, after consulting with partners on remediation and restoration efforts, the building will be closed for all public interactions, through (at least) Saturday, March 1. Plans are underway to restore limited library services as soon as possible.
While the building is closed, no late fines will be assessed for overdue items. Patrons can return materials to the library’s three exterior book drops. One book drop is located near the library’s front door, and two book drops are located on N. Christian Street, behind the library.
The
Lancaster Public Library – Mountville Branch is open as usual. The Mountville Branch is open Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
