Make a resolution to get the most out of your Library 🔥
Whether you’re already a frequent user or you’re ready to get into the groove, make this your year to maximize your library experience. Here are some ideas for Library Resolutions to make in the new year to enrich your life:
Get a Library Card
Do you have a library card yet? If not, it’s never too late to sign up: people of all ages can benefit from the free resources, services, and programs available at the library.
Any resident of Lancaster County (over the age of five years old) is eligible for a library card. Get one at your nearest LPL location or apply online for a digital card.
Use Your Library Card
Okay, so you have a library card but are you using it to its full potential?
Check out books: Patrons can access thousands of items from LPL’s collections, including physical books, e-books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs. Visit us in person to browse or use our catalog to reserve materials to pick up. Or, download the Libby or Hoopla apps and read or listen from anywhere on any iOS or Android device.
Read digital magazines from home: Your library card gives you access to magazines (like Sports Illustrated, Real Simple, and National Geographic Kids) online via Flipster.
Enjoy free visits to cultural institutions around the county: Lancaster Public library cardholders can borrow family passes for museums like Hands-on House, Lancaster Science Factory, Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, and Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania via the Family Museum Pass Program.
Attend a Library Program
Our staff hosts in-person programs for adults, teens, and kids all year long. Explore our monthly program calendar for something that’s your cup of tea.
Book a Librarian
Do you have a complicated reference question? Are you wondering how to get started on a research project? Do you need help downloading an e-book? Our Book-a-Librarian service allows you to reserve appointments with our professional & skilled librarians for up to one hour of uninterrupted, personalized reference, or technical assistance.
