Summer reading 2026

Lancaster Public Library’s annual Summer Reading program is a community tradition that promotes reading for fun and lifelong enrichment! Every summer, children, teens, and families “unearth” something new — a story, an idea, or a sense of what’s possible.

Unearth a Story

Unearthing a Story, this year’s Summer Reading theme, draws on the spirit of discovery, while reflecting the Library’s role in helping young readers uncover endless possibilities.

June 6 – August 15

Reading and participating in engaging reading activities throughout the summer are two effective ways to combat summer learning loss, or the summer slide. This summer, we will help readers dig into a good story, uncover hidden histories, and explore the past through the joy of discovery that reading brings.

Get ready to dig into your next great story!
