Library Services and COVID-19

We have instituted changes to the way we are currently delivering library services.

WE’RE OPEN!

Lancaster Public Library is open for in-person access to library materials! Our goal is to provide the best possible experience we can without putting our patrons, staff, and the community at risk. As a result, in-person visits may still look different than they did in pre-COVID times. If you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of illness, please wait until you’re feeling better to visit the library.

GRAB BAGS
Are you looking for something new to read? With your input, our well read library staff will select an assortment of titles for you. Simply fill out the form, and we will handpick a Grab Bag of titles from our shelves especially for you. We will notify you via email when the bag is ready & waiting for you on the Hold Shelf.

HOLDS
Patrons can visit the online catalog and log into “My Account” to search for and place holds on items at other public libraries in Lancaster County. Items may take longer than usual to arrive and, in some cases, may not be available.

LIBRARY CARD EXPIRATION DATES
To renew your expired library card, visit your local library with identification/proof of address.

TEMPORARY LIBRARY CARDS
Lancaster County residents can apply for a temporary library card HERE. Use your temporary library card to borrow eBooks and to access our online resources. You can also place holds on physical library items with your temporary library card. To pickup your held items, you must visit or contact your local library to upgrade your temporary library card to a full access library card. Your temporary library card is valid for 3 months.

The health and safety of our patrons, staff, and volunteers is a top priority for Lancaster Public Library. Thank you for your continued support & understanding as we work together to ensure the health of our community 💙
